About
THE ARTIST ESTHER ENGELMAN
“The springboard that developed the solid structure for my work was an early emphasis on drawing. This gave me the ability to reduce a composition to its strongest and simplest elements, recording just enough detail, while still retaining the natural atmosphere and color of the location.”
“Always dependable, nature presents itself in perfect color, atmosphere and composition. Nature is universal and timeless. I paint the paintings I want to live with, while extending an invitation to the viewer to linger and escape as well.”
Esther Engelman attended Chouinard Art Institute. She is known for her tranquil seasonal landscapes, seascapes, winterscapes, and gardens in the pastel medium. During her long career and extensive world travels, many of her subjects reflect impressions of Europe and the United States, notably the East and the West coasts.
